For ID cardholders (technicians) & the companies that employ them
ID Cardholder (technician) training the way Florida actually requires it.
Chapter 482 has two separate training requirements for pest control technicians — a one-time 4-hour initial and a recurring 2-hour annual. Most companies only know about one of them. Here's exactly what's required, and how Pest Education covers both.
Per Fla. Stat. §482.091(10)
The gap most companies miss
Most pest control companies don't realize new technicians owe a separate 4-hour initial training on top of the annual 2 hours. FDACS auditors do.

Setting up CEUs for your technicians
Whether you're bringing on a new hire or renewing an existing tech, the requirements are different — and both matter.
New hires: 4-hour initial training (one time)
Every new ID cardholder must complete a one-time 4-hour classroom training in pesticide safety, integrated pest management, and applicable federal/state laws — within 6 months after the ID card is issued, or completed within 2 years before issuance. Our New Tech 4-Hour Onboarding Packet covers all 4 hours in one purchase.
Existing techs: 2 hours every renewal year
After the initial 4 hours, each technician needs 2 hours of continuing training in the same subject areas by their card renewal date. One Pest Education course covers it.
Renewal date: your business anniversary
Technician ID cards renew annually on or before the licensee's anniversary date, which FDACS sets per licensed business location — not a fixed calendar date. Track each tech's renewal from your business dashboard.
For individual ID cardholders (technicians)
Earning and keeping your ID card
Two things: one when you first get your ID card, and one every year after.
Step 1 — 4 hours of initial training (one time)
Within 6 months of getting your ID card, complete a 4-hour classroom training covering pesticide safety, IPM, and federal/state pest control laws and rules. Pest Education's New Tech 4-Hour Onboarding Packet bundles the two courses that together satisfy this requirement — take it once and you're set.
Step 2 — 2 hours every renewal year
After the initial training, you owe 2 hours of continuing training each year in the same subject areas, before your card renewal date. Your certified operator will know your company's renewal date.
Already a certified operator?
A certified operator in good standing is exempt from the technician training requirement per §482.091(10). Complete your CO CEUs and that covers you — don't double up.
